Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is based on principles of adult and reflective learning. As a mediator,
I am comfortable with the role of facilitator and strongly believe in the benefits of a facilitative
approach to teaching. I maintain a balance between content and practical skills in course
development, and ensure that participants receive individualised feedback on skills exercises.
My courses include a range of different activities in order to keep participants engaged and also
to appeal to different styles of learners. I have a flexible approach to teaching and adapt to
participants’ needs and interests. I also encourage feedback and collect formal evaluations of my
teaching from participants in each of my courses, as well as regularly seeking out peer feedback
from co-trainers and other specialists in the field. This ensures that my course materials and my
teaching are constantly reviewed, updated and developed.
